First blackberries of the season...

I bought Blair this blackberry bush for Father's day two years ago. When I bought it, it was about a foot tall and didn't have any berries the first season. He is so proud of this thing and has tended to it as much as he tends to the dog: caring for the new springs, putting out the plastic owl to make sure no bugs or animals get to it, and checking on it every day to see what kind of progress it is making. Hannah's "Hollywood Birth Story"

Labor in Hollywood is always pictured as quick, painful, and clean. Their makeup is always on, hair done, and baby comes out looking angelic. Any woman that has had a baby knows this is far from reality. The true reality of labor is that it takes a long time, it's progressive and it's not pretty.

Hannah had a Hollywood labor, and here's her timeline...

8:00am: Started having some contractions, nothing big.

12:00pm: Mexican food with Blair and Mia

2:00pm: Nap. Contractions have gone away by now.

6:00pm: Make dinner, contractions are back and are very mild.

8:00pm: Put Mia down for bed, contractions are a little stronger.

9:30pm: Call doctor to tell her that contractions are 8 minutes apart, but are still not very strong. Doctor tells me to drink some water, take a bath, and get some rest.

10:00pm: Take a shower, this is where it went downhill...

10:10pm: Call Blair from upstairs and tell him to pack bags and call babysitter. Contractions are strong and closer together. Blair packs his bag and grabs camera.

10:30pm: Babysitter arrives, contractions are 2 minutes apart and strong. We drive to hospital...

10:40pm: Arrive at hospital in screaming agony. Blair parks in emergency entrance. Wheelchair boy wheels me through the halls as quickly as he could to get to the fourth floor labor and delivery.

10:45pm: Check into room, nurses are hooking up chords, one asks me to get off wheelchair to check to see how dialated I was. I was 9cm. She asks me to get in the bed quickly, this baby was coming. Blair had run down to park the car.

11:00pm: Doctor arrives, water breaks...

11:33pm: After a very intense and painful 33 minutes, Hannah Grace is born!

I guess you could say I was in labor for about an hour and a half. Compared to Mia's labor, I was hoping that I could have the experience of driving to the hospital in anticipation...we certainly got our wish. I think I was in complete shock for the next 12 hours after. Now that we're home, can't believe we have the privilage of raising two precious girls. God is to good to us.

Blair and I took a fun trip to NYC over Christmas! We haven't been on a "trip" since our honeymoon and had a great time. This was also our first trip without Mia and intentionally before baby #2 gets here. I had forgotten what it's like to NOT have a child around 24 hours! Here are some of the highlights...

New Curtains...

Between three of us who were sick, I still managed to finish the first of many house projects before baby J #2 comes: curtains for the dining room. With some coaching from my sewing mentor, Lee Anne, I am really happy with how these turned out!

This is what we're doing today, playdate with sweet Ella joy while her

mommy has yet another doctors appointment for her knee!

Getting on my "nesting" mojo!

I've got the bug. I don't know if it's pregnancy hormones or just the boredom of being locked in the house during the winter, but I'm in major "nesting mode." I'm throwing my good friend, Melanie, a wedding shower in two weeks and my small group leader, Debbie, gave us her piano. Both of those things have given me motivation to make some changes to our living room which has looked basically the same for the past five years.

Don't get me wrong, I like our set up, furniture and "stuff." I just want some new life in our living (and bedroom) spaces. I bought two adorable lamps today for 50% off at Hancock fabrics for our bedroom. One of our lamps was broken and I was never in love with them. These only cost $15/each, not bad. Here's what's on the docket for this week:

1. Make two curtains for dining area windows. (I already bought some cute red/gold diamond printed fabric from Hancock fabrics for 50% off).

2. Move Debbie's piano (acutally, this is Blair's job).

3. Make curtain for large living area window (already picked out the fabric, waiting to see if I follow through on #1 first before investing in more fabric. It's supposed to snow this week, good excuse to get cracking to combat the stir-crazies).

4. Move furnature around (this is going to be hard, especially for the hubby since he loves the set up. We have a small living space, but have a few ideas for fitting in the piano and not changing the flow of the room).

When all this is done, I get to move on to our bedroom which is in dire need of a facelift as well. My way-too-crafty-and-cute-sister-in-law redid their bedding and curtains which made a HUGE difference (though everything she touches turns to gold). She's my sewing and decorating idol. Her house makes you want to throw up a little, it's that adorable AND organized (sidenote - we ironically both posted about running around the house and her title was "rub a dub dub, six men in a tub." She IS a school librarian, but common, can I have an ounce of that creativity?). I already bought some new frames from Kohls for our wedding picture and bridal protrait on clearance. they look great with the new lamps. I love seeing progress, I just need the patience to watch it all come together. Will post pictures with the progress this week...

The dumbest new tradition in our family...

So when our brother-in-law joined the family four years ago, he introduced us to this tradition that has long lived in the Porter family: running around the house on the first snow. The day after Christmas, we had our "first snow" and were told that this is something we have to do. I can see how this might be fun at a small house, but Blair's parents house is rather wide and large. I wouldn't say this was a fun experience, but it was sure memorable! Here are the highlights:

Protein Bars...

My good friend Ali gave me this great recipe for protein bars that are super easy and yummy:

Mix in kitchenaid on low:
2 cups oats
1 cut peanut butter or almond butter
1 cup sunflower seeds (not in shells)
1 cup seseme seeds (I didn't have these, used chopped walnuts)
3/4 cup honey
1 cup chocolate chips

Put in a greased 9 X 13 pan, freeze for 20 minutes, cut into bars, and store in individually wrapped foils. Store in freezer.

FYI I think these would be yummy with just about any types of nut that you have. I would have added cranberries or raisins if i had them. This is a great breakfast to send your husband out the door with! Also a great mid afternoon snack for a preggo woman....

Just made THIS awesome crockpot applesauce recipie for Mia. I tripled the apples (used a 3lb bag) and doubled the other ingredients. So yummy and so easy, great for everyone!

We have had a really great month after the craziness of October. Lots has happened! The weather has just started turning chilly which has called for lots of hot drinks, chili, and indoor dates. We've enjoyed a few rare sunny days and have had fun letting Mia play in her new "car" from some friends. She's not tall enough to flinstone her way around, but still loves being pushed around...

It's the most wonderful time of the year...

This is what my husband sang (literally) while crawling out of bed last week when we got our first cold spell. I've never met anyone who loves this season as much as he does. From November 1 through January 1, he's in utter bliss. He reminds me of Will Ferrell in "Elf." He's that close to running around the house and kicking his heels together cutting out snowflakes out of paper and singing Christmas carols. He has even found the one radio station that plays Christmas music 24-hours a day starting November 1. He's getting ready to string the lights on our massive leiland cypress in the front this weekend, just the beginning of the festivities around our house. Others include several trips to the Grovepark Inn to look at gingerbread houses and drink hot chocolate, Jenkins family Gingerbread house competition, Thanksgiving football game, looking at Christmas lights in Greensboro, or course shopping, family Christmas cards, filling in our Christmas book, and attending multiple Christmas parties with and without kids.

Here's pictures from the last hike of the year at Mt. Pisgah a few weeks ago, Blair's other favorite thing to do. Holidays, here we come!

While Blair was out of town last weekend, Mia and I had a great time at my friend, Kate's house with her two children, Jack and Ella. My friend Ali also came with her two children, Avery and Jackson. All of our husbands were out of town so it was a great excuse to dress everyone up and have an impromptu Halloween Party. We did everything from crafts, to dinner, storytime to playtime. Jeans Makeover

OK, so I've been a mom for a year now. The baby fat is gone, or at least has redistributed itself to new places. I officially have a "pooch" that I've been told is one of those war wounds that moms carry. I don't mind it, it's not that big and I don't wear tight enough clothing to let the world know that yes, I had a baby a year ago. HOWEVER, jeans season is around the corner. That time of year that every woman dreads; finding the "right pair of jeans." Most of us own 12 pairs, but only wear 2 on a regular basis and are on the prowl looking for the pair that is multi-functional and yet stylish. My list includes: must make my butt look good, not too tight around the waist, boot cut, able to pair with flip flops and boots, and did I mention making my butt look good? That's a tall order. I'm not like my younger sister who was born to look good in a paper bag. Seriously, she can wear anything. When you're 5'9" and have twig legs, dark thick hair, and work at a kayak store (ie in the sun, hauling boats all day = in shape, tan), you can pull off any pair of jeans. I somehow inherited hips and a booty on a 5'3" frame. Try finding a pair of jeans with those genetics. Now that there's a "pooch," this proposes a new problem....

What I need is a blend between the "mom" jean and the "skinny" jean. Love the idea behind the "mom" jean. Hides the pooch, loose, comfortable. All my mom friends know what I'm talking about, especially since you're probably sitting in a pair of sweat pants right now. Too bad their hideous. (I just realized I'm wearing a pink polo just like the woman in the orange. I need some rescuing).

But let's be honest, this is what I WANT to wear. Let me re-phrase, this is what I want to look good in. Not happening. Seriously, I think 10% of the population can pull this off, most of them under 18. Even my perfect sister-in-law doesn't like skinny jeans. She makes me feel better.

So I was listening to NPR the other day and heard this story on jeans and how Levi has come out with a new collection for Fall 2010. They have come up with something called the "curve ID: slight curve, demi curve, and bold curve." I especially love their tag line "All Asses Were Not Created Equal." That's for sure. If anyone ever needs a butt transplant, I have plenty to spare. You can watch the video and check it out yourself here. I'm certainly going to check this out because like most of my friends, it's time for a jeans makeover. Most of my jeans fall into two categories: too "momish" or too "trying to be 20 again." I'm sure everyone has a few pairs in their closets screaming the same thing. I'm excited about this jeans revolution and hope that maybe the holy grail is closer than I thought (we're all looking for holy grails in this house). Until then, I will continue to embrace the sweat pants and two pairs that I own that look just right for right now. Good thing it's still warm enough to wear capris. Now those were a great invention. Updates to come.

30 Things I LOVE (and HATE) about Lee Anne

This post is dedicated to my awesome sister-in-law, Lee Anne, who turns 30 today. That is her pictured below decorating Mia's birthday cupcakes. There are so many things I love about her and so many things that I hate. Let me clarify; when I say "hate," what I really mean is envy. Example: Have you seen and touched Lee Anne's hair? I HATE that she can wake up in the morning and look like Reese Whitherspoon, not fair. So here you go, 30 things I LOVE and HATE about my sister-in-law, Lee Anne.

1. I love that we can talk hollywood gossip and can go deep at the same time.

2. I hate that she is good at EVERYTHING; sports, decorating, teaching, crafting.

3. I love her passion for her family and community.

4. I hate that she can spend the weekend eating ice cream, cake, hot wings, and ranch dressing and still look great.

5. I love shopping with her, I always learn so much.

6. I hate shopping with her, she can look good in a paper bag.

7. I love how she loves her husband. I'll never forgot Lee Anne picking up Brad from the airport in a Steelers shirt. That's love.

8. I hate how she has her spice rack organized better than Martha Stewart.

9. I love that she is always making goals for herself.

10. I hate that she usually accomplishes those goals, not fair.

11. I love how Lee Anne claims a song that is her "favorite song" every couple of months and blasts it in her car like a teenager. At least she used to do that.

12. I hate that she doesn't get to see Brad 3 days a week this semester.

13. I love that we wore the same wedding dress the day we both said "I do" two years apart.

14. I hate that she had to alter it since she's permanently two sizes smaller. I'm sure when she's pregnant, she'll be one of "those girls" who barely looks preganant until she goes into labor.

15. I love dancing around to "the Sound of Music" sound track with her like we're 12 years old.

16. I hate that Lee Anne can go to a yard sale, pay ten dollars for a piece of furnature, and paint it, add tassles, and put a fake plant on it to make it look out of a magazine.

17. I love her spunk and competative spirit, we make great partners.

18. I hate that she wins the gingerbread contest every year, or atleast has the best designs even when she doesn't win (yes, I'm admitting it). Polar Express, seriously?

19. I love how Lee Anne is the most thoughtful gift giver.

20. I hate that we can't share shoes anymore since I had a baby, she has GREAT shoes.

21. I love that she's a librarian, and that she's a great one.

22. I hate that when my daughter goes to school, Mia is going to ask to go back to school shopping with Lee Anne since she is already "the cool aunt." (let's be honest, Lee Anne is Mia's best chance of looking hip).

23. I love that we can talk and text for FREE now! Thank you Verizon.

24. I hate that she can sew anything AND blog about it. (Have you seen her blog? SO cute, SO inspiring, SO not fair).

25. I love that Lee Anne has always felt like a sister. Not only did I find my soulmate in her brother, but God gave me a sister soulmate.

26. I hate that she lives so far away.

27. I love that Lee Anne loves Jesus. She makes me want to be like Him everytime I talk to her.

28. I hate that I'm getting choked up as I write this and think about how much I love her.

29. I love how she has become a new role in our lives; "Aunt Lee Lee," and that she already loves my daughter so deeply. Mia is so lucky.

30. I love that we will get to do life together for another 30 years, I'm so blessed!

Most of my friends and family know I have a love-hate relationship with our beloved dog, Denton. She licks contently, she runs into me, she's crazy (but lovable, think Marley), and her poops are huge. HOWEVER, she's the best vacuum cleaner I've ever invested in: I don't have to buy new filters, she works day and night, and even gets the nooks and crannies. I don't think Dyson can even boast that, even with it's "revolving ball." Anyone who has kids who still eat in the high chair know what I'm talking about! Below are scenes from tonight's dinner...

The quest for the holy.....sippy cup!

Ah yes, who would have thought that finding the "right sippy-cup" would be so challenging. I feel like Monty Python, but have not found Mia's "holy grail" yet. No one told me this would be so challenging. There are so many choices and apparently, your child ends up choosing the one he or she "likes." Maybe this is easier for some kids, but we've almost bought out every brand at babies r us. Of course everytime I'm in there, some mom comes and raves about one brand or another and tells me "this is the one my son fell in love with." Ridiculous, but yet necessary...

The quest is on, click clack, click clack...

Our contenders so far...
"The Nuk" - Mia loves the handles, but water doesn't come out fast enough.

"The generic" - top choice, but no handles. I have to hold it. Water flow is perfect!

"Born Free" - Nice soft texture, too heavy once it's full. Too hard to tilt back when not full enough.

"Tommy Tippy" - the best name by far. Wish it were smaller, it's also a frontrunner now. Love the retracktable cover that flips over.

"The Nubby" - the worst name by far. Handles are great, but Mia gets drenched after three sips

"The Nalgene" - definately the coolest, but can't handle the hard plastic sipper. Maybe one day when she's walking and wearing her hiking shoes...

"The Personalized Babies R Us Cup" - Ok, so I had a weak moment in Babies R Us. I couldn't pass up something with her name on it. Just like high heels: totally not practical, too hard, but stylish. At least she looks good while drinking out of it!

We'll let you know when we finally find the "right" cup, wish us luck...

I can't believe our little baby is ONE already! We had the best time celebrating: birthday weekend with family including presents, dinner and ofcourse yummy cupcakes. Yesterday (her actual birthday, we took Mia downtown to "Splashville" since we know Mia LOVES to play in the water. It was the best birthday celebration and can't believe it's already been a year.

I love my cowboy! Blair's actually the furthest thing from a cowboy, but I remember falling in love with him and getting to say "I do" just five years ago. We had a great Father's day this weekend. We went camping with some good friends with Mia for the first time. She did great, though she got up with the sun (too early). We started the morning packing up the gear and then heading to a local coffee shop to grab hot coffee and a smoothie. We drove home, unloaded, did laundry, took naps, showered and headed to Blair's favorite: Carrabas. After dinner, we headed home, put Mia down, made some homemade ice cream, and watched "It's Complicated." I framed the two pictures below for Blair. The first is of his dad and him and the second is Blair and Mia. Looking forward to heading to California next week. Until then...

I love this warm weather! We have had a busy spring trying to sell our house, wrap up school (Blair), and keep on top of a ten month old and all that comes with that. We had a great visit with Blair's sister and hubby in Charleston over Memorial day and are getting ready to fly to California to see Cara's family. Blair's parents are coming for part of the trip and we're planning to make it a full visit with friends and family. This week, Cara has been busy teaching a reed workshop every morning (one more to go) before we go camping for Father's day! Mia's first camping trip is sure to be exciting! Pictures soon to come...

So now that school is officially out and I can begin the countdown to baby Jenkins (sorry, no name yet), I feel free to finally start decorating, labeling and assembling. I know this "nesting" thing has really kicked in, but I have to say that I think Blair is "nesting" way more than I am (in his man way). In the last three weeks, he has painted the baby room, painted the living room, assembled all the furniture, powersprayed the deck, stained the deck, pulled weeds and put pine straw down. He's done all this inbetween his spring and summer grad school classes! I'm so lucky....

I'm so thankful that when I was getting married and had to register, I had the full and complete help of my good friend, Jenny Ford. We went between Bed Bath and Beyond, Potterybarn and Williams Sonoma, scanning everything from dishes to bed sheets. If I had NOT had her help, we would be sleeping and eating MUCH less stylish.

Registering for a BABY was a much different experience. There were literally hundreds of items that lists would say we needed. Between the lists and opinions of moms who sometimes agree on what you need and sometimes don't, let's just say I guess I'll find out when this baby gets here what it REALLY needs and doesn't need. I'm glad it's over and hope we covered our bases....we'll see!

I have never sold anything on craigslist before. Not because I didn't want to, but I didn't really have much to sell. We've had a couch and bed in our garage for a year and last night I finally thought, "I'm going to try to see if we can sell this before we leave for the weekend." I posted it at 9:01 and by 9:30, I sold the bed. The following morning I had over 15 e-mails for the couch! Just 24-hours later and our garage is cleaned out, not to mention we have some extra cash in our pockets. That's what I call MODERN technology, love it!

GIRL! Everything looked good on the ultrasound. She was really stubborn (takes after mom) and didn't want to reveal herself, but after some poking and prodding, the technician was sure it was a girl. Can't wait!

Ok, so I won't be one of those people who blog all about every step of pregnancy, but my doctor's appointment today was really amazing. My doctor offered to do an ultrasound (even though it wasn't scheduled) since I was there so early this morning. I got to see the little person forming complete with a head, eye sockets, arms and legs. While she was showing me all the different parts, the little person was doing summersalts and jumping jacks. It was amazing to see this little person moving around and watching it's heart beat. Can't wait to find out what it is!

For those of you whom I haven't talked with in a while, I wanted to let everyone know that we are officially pregnant! I'm ten weeks and feeling great, no morning sickness yet (knock on wood). Just really tired and REALLY excited. We were really suprised since I was told over the summmer that I have a condition, PCOS, that can potentially be a big cause for infertillity. We are so thankful that God is allowing us this little blessing! Please pray for a safe seven more months!

FINALLY GOT CABLE AND INTERNET! I can't tell you how much I realized how out of touch with the world we have been until the cable man came and hooked everything up. All of a sudden my eyes were opened to instant communication! Here's just a few ways that technology has already changed our lives.....

1. I don't have to check my e-mail at the public library anymore (I don't think the Librarian liked me very much and I had a 55 minute time limit)

2. We don't have to put foil on our antenas to watch March maddness

3. ABC is no longer our only source of news (I'm still mad a Charlie Gibson)

4. NETFLIX!

5. FACEBOOK (not yet, but coming soon)

6. We don't have to drive to Atlanta Bread to finish papers and e-mails late on Sunday nights.

7. Skyping (not sure how this works, but sign me up with a webcam)

8. We aren't limited to Hannah Montana on Saturday mornings (Blair knows the theme)

9. We don't have to tape "Friends" anymore

10. We can keep up with friends and family!

Ballet classes are for little girls...

This past semester, I thought it would be a good idea to start taking ballet class again. I danced for almost twelve years until I had to choose between dance and music (there's only so much a girl can do!). I absolutely LOVED ballet when I was little. My mom and dad took me to see the Nutcracker every year. I guess you could say that signing up for this class really showed me that 30 is just around the corner. I had a great teacher, Lyle, who seemed to have the ability to make me think I wasn't that bad. I know the truth, even Lyle can't hide that. Those days are long gone. ATLANTA!

So, my sweet husband decided that after a long year, we needed a weekend get-a-way. He planned this fantastic trip to Atlanta this past weekend where we relaxed, we talked, we ate, and we hit the big tourist attractions. I highly recommend this same trip to anyone looking for a good mix of a kicked back but well-planned weekend. Here are the highlights...

I'll be posting more about what's going on in Asheville this coming week. We're at my sister-in-law's house and have internet (a luxury for the Jenkins).

Why I Teach...

Last night my school had their annual "Holiday Night" which included a performance that I coordinated with the 2nd and 3rd grade classes and the chorus. In addition to teaching music at Bell, I also teach an afterschool chorus comprised of approximately 50 4th and 5th Graders. I recieved a letter yesterday from one of my students whom I have had since she was in 3rd grade. She is now in the 5th grade and has been one of those kids I really had a heart for from the beginning. Here's what she wrote:

"Dear Miss Jenkins, Thank you for the great job in the show. You did a great job of telling and teaching us to do. I enjoy being in chorus because of your work. I just wish I could be a kid forever so I could stay here in chorus. You can make everything fun and that's just what you do. I hope you can do more with the little kids becuase they did great. I hope we did great too. I'm looking forward to music class. Thank you for coming here. It is an honor to have you. You are the best music teacher I've ever had. Your student, Pamela"

A Belated Fall Overview......

Okay, so we've been out of the BLOGGOSPHERE for a while, life has been busy! We thought we'd leave and overview of our past two months and what we're looking forward to this holiday season. I unfortunatlely have only purchased ONE Christmas gift thus far, way behind most of the family and Jenny Ford! Now that things have slowed down (October was crazy) Blair and I are looking forward to some downtime before the holiday rush begins. So here it is in a flash, the Jenkins fall overview.......

1. Jonathan and Ali North, who are planting a church here in Asheville (Fellowship Asheville) stayed with us for a night. We had great conversation and are REALLY looking forward to being a part of this church. By the way friends in Denton, it's official: Fred Baker and his wife Stacy will be moving here with Jonathan and Ali to launch this new church. More incentive to get you out of Texas and into God's country, NC!

2. Labor Day weekend: We celebrated Lee Anne's 27th birthday up here in Asheville. The whole clan came including Brad's parents, Nancy and Jeff. We had a great time visiting some well known Asheville sights including the Biltmore house. Here is a picture of Lee Anne loving on one of the goats at the farm house.

3. Jenny comes to visit! Jenny + Cara = double trouble! That's right, my sweet heart friend from Austin TX came out to visit. We tore up the town; ate good food, shopped, drank lots of coffee, ate more good food. I miss you friend!

4. Weekend getaway in Blowing Rock: Blair suprised me with a getaway weekend to Blowing Rock NC. Here is a view of the condo he rented for us, AMAZING. I woke up early and DEnton and I watched the sunrise over the mountains. We had a much needed relaxing weekend that included good food, 310 to Yuma (Blair's new favorite movie), cinnamon rolls, OJ, and lots of good talk time. He even came prepared with the most recent issure of People magazine (now that's love).
5. Blair's 10-year reunion: Can't believe it's been 10 years since Blair graduated HS. We had a great time seeing Blair's old friends...6. Cara turns 29: Can't believe it, only one more year from 30! We enjoyed the B-day weekend camping with Denton. Blair bought me a great clock for our hallway (he has great taste).
That's all for now. I'll try to be better about updating our lives. Things to look forward to:
1. Thanksgiving: Chris and Caroline McGlade will be joining us this year in Greensboro, we can't wait.
2. Holiday Night 2007: Oh Yes, Cara's big program this year is entitled "Dancing through the Holidays."
3. Wearing sweaters and postponing leg shaving!
4. Blair's trip to Florida in mid-November with students...

8. Bele Chere (huge outdoor music festival in Asheville in late July)

March Madness with the Jenkins...

Alright, so we haven't posted anything for almost a month, sorry! Thinking back over the past month, it was pretty good. V-day was fun. It was a symphony week for me that week, so Blair and I only had from 5-6:30. I surprised him with a picnic in our living room with all his favorite breakfast items, some John Mayer, and a back massage. I even bought rose petals! I have to say, he topped me with a home made card with Harry Connick Jr's picture on it (I was in his fan club when I was 12 years old), surprising me with tickets to his concert next week! That was so thoughtful, considering Blair would never listed to HCJ.
I'm in the middle of preparing 4th and 5th grade students for a program entitled "The Best of Broadway." THe kids are singing and dancing 10 different Broadway hits. We're also serving ice cream cakes from COld Stone Creamery; trying to create a 'dinner theater.'
We'll try to post some pictures soon. We're going on a ski trip in two weeks with some friends, some much needed rest. We'll write more later (hopefully not in a month)...

That's right. For those of you who know our medical history over our marriage, you would know that we have dealt with pneumonia, bladder infections, stitches, cysts, kidney stones, and all kinds of colds and flu. We feel like every three months, we have a major crisis to deal with. Blair just had a cat-scan last week only to find that the cyst on his kidney that was found on an ultrasound, didn't even exist! Yea! Anyways, pray for us that we can stay out of any major medical facility for the next six months. We could have landscaped our whole back yard and furnished our whole house with the money we've poured into the health care system!

Christmas in Greensboro...

Our Christmas break was so restful and very needed! We had a great time spending a week in Greensboro with Blair's family. Diane's a great cook, I think we both gained 5 lbs from the visit! This was the first year I haven't been in California. We're planning to rotate, starting next year. The Besio's are making a trip out here in June for Lee Anne's wedding, which we're very exctied about! Here were some of the highlights from the trip...

At 3:15 this afternoon in the grocery store, I felt some severe pain coming on and by the time I got home, I felt like a truck hit me. Here I am five hours later on two meds for a bladder infection. Good news is that it's supposed to kick in after an hour or so (still waiting). At least I get to take the day off tomorrow...
